What is a Cyber Attack? List of recent cyber attacks
A cyber attack is a malicious attempt by an individual or organization to breach the information system of another individual or organization. Cyberattack is also known as a computer network attack (CNA).
According to a research, The organizations / business owners are facing 504 new cyber security threats every minute and ransomware has grown 118% as hackers adopt new tactics and code innovations to steal data globally.
Common types of Cyber Attacks
Here's an overview of some of the most common types of cyber attacks:
- Phishing Attack
- Denial of Service Attack
- Man in the Middle Attack
- SQL Injection
Malware refers to various forms of harmful software, such as viruses, spyware and ransomware. A malware attack is a type of cyber attack in which malware or malicious software performs activities on the victim's computer system.
Phishing is a type of social engineering attack often used to steal user data, including login credentials and credit card numbers.
A Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack is an attack meant to shut down a machine or network, making it unavailable to its intended users.
Man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack is a type of cyber-attack where an attacker secretly interferes, relays or alters the communication between a client (browser) and the server (website). In MITM, the client assumes that it has established an encrypted connection with the server, but actually, the server and the client are connected to the hacker who could read and modify the data that is being transmitted. During a MITM attack, the hacker breaks into the Wi-Fi connection or the Internet provider's network and interrupts the sent data. Once the data has been stolen by the hacker, it can be easily read (since it isn't encrypted) and sorted to access sensitive information.
Cryptojacking is a technique used by the hackers to make unauthorized use of user's browser to mine the cryptocurrency.
A Structured Query Language (SQL) injection occurs when an attacker inserts malicious code into a server that uses SQL and forces the server to reveal information it normally would not.
